MCSS Back to School Picnic at Fraser River Heritage Park on Aug. 25 offered activities, food and school backpacks to 24 newcomer children from countries ranging from Iran and Cameroon to Syria and Congo.

Organized by MCSS New to Canada Department and with the support of volunteers, and sponsors Telus Community Ambassadors and Lacey Developments Ltd., the annual event was deemed a success.  Each newcomer student received a backpack containing school supplies sponsored by the two companies.
