Local Immigration Partnership Specialist (Part-time)

The Position

Reporting to the Manager, Family Services, the Local Immigration Partnership Specialist (LIPS) is responsible for engaging stakeholders through information sharing, events and a locally driven strategic planning process that will help make the District of Mission a more welcoming and inclusive community. The LIPS will provide leadership to assist non-settlement service providers and the community in developing a greater understanding of newcomers’ needs and services.

The LIPS will be responsible for facilitating cooperation between the various community stakeholders who play a role in providing immigration services. The LIPS will lead in developing and implementing a local Welcome to Canada Newcomers Action Plan and will be responsible for encouraging a cultural shift to aid The District of Mission in becoming a more welcoming community by working with partners to create a better understanding of the benefits of attracting and retaining newcomers to the region.

The LIPS will be highly skilled in developing and executing communication strategies, facilitation and relationship building, optimizing performance through effective leadership and team building, motivation, and guidance.

Requirements and Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Community Development, Communication, Planning or Recreation, and a minimum of three (3) years’ experience working in: group facilitation, community engagement, social research and policy development, and project management or an equivalent combination of experience and qualifications.

Candidates must demonstrate proven knowledge and expertise partnership development, community engagement practice, facilitation, strategic planning, research and analysis, conflict resolution and community capacity building.

Other Requirements
• Successful completion of a criminal record check is required
• Certification in First Aid and Non-Violent Crisis Intervention
• Valid B.C. Driver’s License and a reliable vehicle with appropriate insurance
• Ability to understand and maintain clientele/worker boundaries
• Experience and comfort with Microsoft Office products
• Confidentiality as per Agency, professional association, and legislative requirements

Status: Part-time
Hours: 14 Hours
Wage: Grid 12 ($28.32 – $32.51)
