Spirit of Christmas starts with MCSS wish campaign

Events are already under way for Mission Community Services Christmas Bureau – Wish Campaign with a target of $100,000 in cash and in-kind donations to help make the festive season merry for those who need a helping hand.

MCSS and its team of energetic volunteers are reaching out to the community to make a difference not only for families, but also for single adults including senior citizens who find it difficult to make ends meet at this time of the year.

A first-time Christmas craft market with 22 vendors opens its doors at Elks Hall on Saturday, Oct. 26.  Admission is by donation and the event runs from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at 33336 Second Ave.

Also, the Mission Fire Hall #3 and the Silverdale Community Hall are presenting the annual Nightmare Haunted House at Silverdale Hall starting on Wednesday, Oct. 23 and running until Oct. 27 from  7 p.m. to 10 p.m. at 8760 McLean St. in Mission.

A non perishable food item gets a reduced entry fee and proceeds go to the MCSS Christmas Bureau – Wish Campaign.

Registration for those who need hampers begins on Nov. 4 and runs to Nov. 30.

Again, the Mission Christmas Bureau headquarters will be at Unit 142 London Ave., beside The Source at the Junction Shopping Centre in Mission.
