LOCAL IMMIGRATION PARTNERSHIP SPECIALIST, PART TIME

The Local Immigration Partnership Specialist (LIPS) is responsible for the engaging stakeholders through information sharing, events, and a locally driven strategic planning process that will make the District of Mission a more welcoming and inclusive community. The LIPS will provide leadership to assist non-settlement service providers and the community in developing a greater understanding of the newcomer needs and services. The LIPS will be highly skilled in developing and executing communication strategies, facilitation, and relationship building, optimizing performance through effective leadership and team building, motivation, and guidance.

What you’d be doing:
• Strengthen partnerships with service sectors such as health care, education, housing, children’s services, and police to discuss the unique needs of immigrants within those sectors and how we, as a community, can work together to ensure that New Canadians have complete access to these services.
• Raise the profile of New Canadians by developing and executing communication strategies that celebrate local success stories.
• Improve employment opportunities for New Canadians by reaching out to employers and demonstrating how diversity enriches the workplace.
• Promote collaboration between organizations to improve access to services for New Canadians.
• Strengthen social integration by helping to remove barriers.
• Encourage social and cultural connections, active civic participation and a sense of the rights and responsibilities of Canadian citizenship and the value of diversity.
• Develop a multi-sectorial partnership ensuring newcomer needs are integrated into planning processes, identify community-specific strategic priorities, and implement action plans to improve newcomer outcomes at the community level.
• Maximize opportunities for alignment, awareness, engagement, and retention with partner organizations.
• Development and maintenance of networks for better coordination of settlement activities
• Community Research, Analysis and Strategic Planning.
• Project Coordination.
• Coordination of Information and Resources.
• Provide support for the inclusion of newcomer needs in planning and priority setting processes within the District of Mission.
• Quarterly evaluations to measure progress toward meeting described outcomes.

What you bring:
• Bachelor’s degree in Community Development, Communication, Planning or Recreation, and a minimum of three (3) years’ experience working in: group facilitation, community engagement, social research and policy development, and project management.
• Successful completion of a criminal record check is required.
• Certification in First Aid and Non-Violent Crisis Intervention
• Valid B.C. Driver’s License and a reliable vehicle with appropriate insurance
• Ability to understand and maintain clientele/worker boundaries.
• Experience and comfort with Microsoft Office products
• Confidentiality as per Agency, professional association, and legislative requirements

Wage: Grid 12 ($29.17-$33.49)
