Family and Youth
Family Services
At MCSS, we recognize that families are diverse and vital to the fabric of our society. We prioritize safeguarding the welfare of children, youth, individuals, and families through our Family Development Response Programs (FDRP) by providing comprehensive support to empower all families as they navigate their circumstances.
Our services are tailored to enhance family well-being through various methodologies such as parent training, therapy, mediation, and/or life skills coaching. Our parent education groups play a pivotal role in nurturing healthy parent-child relationships. Our inclusive parenting groups are accessible to everyone in the community and are offered multiple times throughout the year.
We aim to reduce family stress, foster skill development, improve communication, strengthen bonds, and nurture resilience; by offering counselling and educational resources. Collaborating closely with the Ministry of Children and Family Development, we specialize in supporting families facing crises. While our primary focus is on referrals from the ministry, we also consider community referrals on a case-by-case basis, depending on program capacity. At MCSS, every family matters, and we’re committed to being there when they need us most.

Youth Services
At MCSS, our Youth Workers adopt a positive, asset-based approach to youth development, valuing the strengths and potential of each individual. Our Youth Services encompass outreach for youth facing challenges such as sexual exploitation or substance addiction, transitional housing assistance, conflict resolution support, youth justice consultation, and guidance for fulfilling community service hours.
Moreover, we offer assistance in enhancing the quality of life through improved self-management, social skills, and communication abilities. Our programs focus on life skills development through both individual and group settings, as well as facilitating parent-teen mediation.
We primarily collaborate with the Ministry of Children and Family Development to support youth in crisis or transition. While our main focus is on referrals from the ministry, we also consider community referrals on a case-by-case basis, depending on our program capacity.
Therapy Services
Therapy, also called psychotherapy or counseling, is the process of meeting with a therapist to resolve problematic behaviors, beliefs, feelings, relationship issues, and/or somatic responses (sensations in the body).
Beginning therapy can be a big step toward being the healthiest version of yourself and living the best life possible—no matter what challenges you may be facing. Through therapy, you can change self-destructive behaviors and habits, resolve painful feelings, improve your relationships, and more.
MCSS provide therapy services for individuals and families.
Priority is given to referrals from the Ministry of Children and Family Development to assist families in crisis. We also accept community referrals from individuals on a case-by-case basis where the program has the capacity.
