Mission4Kids Family Place

Family Place offers a variety of on-site, outdoor and online programs for families with children 0-6 years of age. Families and caregivers have access to a variety of resources, education workshops and programs, clothing exchange, speciality programs and referrals with the goal of reducing isolation, increasing knowledge and confidence in parenting skills.

Community workers such as a Public Health Nurse, Dental Hygienist, a Supported Child Care Worker and Child Development Specialists are invited to the program for informative sessions.

Activities are planned throughout the day and on some weekends to ensure accessibility for all family members. Mission4Kids Family Place monthly calendar is circulated to our registered participants.

The following programs are currently offered at Family Place:

Baby Steps: A drop-in program for parents and caregivers of children 0-18 months to exchange information, build friendships and socialize. Also includes interactive sessions with guest speakers and professionals such as infant development consultant, dental hygienist, community nurse etc.

Loose Parts Drop-In: Loose parts play involves endless possibilities of unstructured exploration for Children (age 4 to 8 yrs) with a participating adult. This child-led activity provides them with an opportunity to be creative and inventive in their environment, manipulating and constructing objects through play.

Mother Goose: Children (age 0 to 23 months) and their parents enjoy learning new rhymes, songs and stories; organized in collaboration with Mission Literacy in Motion and CAPC

Nature Works: Families with children age 0-6 years meet at Heritage park, Rain or shine, to walk under the trees, do an activity, have a snack, read a story and sing songs.

Nobody’s Perfect: An interactive parenting program for families with children 0-5 years where they learn about child development, health and behaviours.

New to Canada Parenting: This is a support group for parents who are New to Canada and is organized in collaboration with our New to Canada team.

Summer Story Time: Introduce kids to the love of books and language with Storytime! Children and caregivers will enjoy interactive stories, songs, rhymes
and more.

Toddler Time: Fun and interactive activities for families with children walking to age 3 years.

Mission Child Care Resource and Referral (CCRR) is committed to providing information, referrals, training and resources to families, individuals and organizations who are seeking the best childcare and early learning options in our community.

Our CCRR team support ChildCare Providers and Parents with children (0-6 years) through various resources, programs and educational workshops.

We support child care providers through referrals, workshops, training, networking, consultation, facility visits and a resource library.

Looking for Childcare?

Our team provides the following services to parents and guardians with children 0-6 years of age:

Childcare information and referrals: Mission CCRR maintains a current database of all Licensed family, Licensed Group and RLNR (registered Licensed Not Required) Childcares as well as Preschools in the area. We provide parents and guardians with tools and resources to help find quality childcare in Mission. We maintain a current listing of childcare providers, we will assist you in navigating provincial subsidy applications, and we are always here to help you with any questions you may have.

Submit your childcare request by simply completing the form and our staff will send you a list of childcare providers that are relevant to your needs.

Affordable Child Care Benefit (ACCB) application support: The Affordable Child Care Benefit is a monthly payment to help eligible families with the cost of childcare. Factors like income, family size, and type of care determine how much support families can get.

Toy lending library:

Registered families can borrow up to 3 kits containing high quality, educational and interactive toys and games.

A selection of over 50 different theme kits is available to childcare providers registered with MCSS. Each kit has a combination of activities, games, craft and circle time; making planning activities for days in your childcare very easy. We also provide free monthly pick up and delivery service.
