Mission Community Services Society offers a variety of affordable services that empowers seniors stay healthy, active, independent and connected to the community.

Our seniors’ programs and services rely heavily on volunteers for extending timely services to the elderly members of our community. Volunteers can register as individuals or groups. For more information and to register, please visit our volunteer page (link to volunteer page).

Better at Home

Mission Better at Home provides affordable, non-medical services to assist seniors with simple day-to-day tasks so they can continue to live independently in their own (or rented) homes and stay connected to their communities.

The program offers non-medical services to seniors who are:

55 years of age or older

Residents of Mission

Living at (owned/rented) home

Services available through Mission Better at Home:

Light housekeeping

Transportation to medical appointments

Grocery shopping

Friendly visitor/caller

Meals on Wheels

Meals on Wheels is a healthy and affordable option for seniors who are at risk of isolation, have difficulty grocery shopping/ preparing their own meals. Low-cost, frozen meals are delivered by our friendly staff and volunteers every Friday (except statutory holidays). Our in-house kitchen staff curate a diverse and nutritious meal plan based on seasonal ingredients and popular demand.

Menu items are rotated regularly and our wholesome meals are prepared from the freshest available ingredients.

Social Prescription

MCSS Social Prescription program aims to connect seniors who face multiple barriers to accessing community programs, services and/or events by providing resources that aid in improving their wellness and lifestyle. Seniors accessing this program are provided the resources and support that they need to remain connected with their community and live independently for as long as possible.

Our team works collaboratively with the client’s clinical team to curate a plan for social programming that addresses their needs in a holistic manner.

Services offered include:

Referral to physical activity programs

Skills and literacy training

Referral to nutrition and food service programs (grocery shopping, Meals on Wheels)

Referral to mental health support

Medical transportation

Affordable housing assistance

Referral to caregiver programs, support programs, education and volunteer experiences.

We Serve

Residents of Mission, BC aged 55+

Individuals experiencing poor health (physical and emotional); making frequent trips to ER or primary care.

Marginalized individuals

Socially vulnerable individuals

Accessing our services: Access to the Social Prescription Program is available by referral of a doctor or nurse practitioner’s office.
