Christmas Bureau
MCSS Christmas Bureau is committed to ensuring a joyous holiday season for all Mission residents regardless of their financial circumstances. We understand the importance of creating cherished memories during this time of year, especially for families facing financial challenges. Our goal is to provide essential holiday assistance that includes toys and gifts for children and grocery cards so families are able to enjoy those memory making holiday meals together.
In 2023 the Christmas Bureau received unwavering support from our community members, organizations, businesses, and volunteers to provide over toys to over 600 kids, 50 Christmas trees, over 800 Christmas food hampers to families and seniors in time for Christmas.
200 volunteer hours supported the Christmas Bureau.
The Christmas Bureau-Wish Campaign is closed for the season.

Low-income families can register and avail support in one of 2 ways:

Direct support from a sponsor
MCSS will match you with a sponsor who will deliver the Christmas dinner supplies and gifts for their matched family and directly to their door or at a mutually agreed upon location.

Toy Shop and Food Center
Two appointments will be booked for December- One for Toy Shop at the Christmas Bureau and one for Food Hamper pick up at the MCSS Food Center.
Registration Process

Eligibility
- For food hampers: Low income families and seniors
- For toys and gifts: Families with dependent minors (newborn to 18 yrs).

Documents required
- Proof of income: (i.e., pay-stub or if you get Social Assistance, upload a cheque stub or other proof, like three months bank statements clearly showing entries Province of BC deposit)
- Photo Identification: BC ID/Driver’s License
- Birth Certificate or BC Medical Card for you and dependents.
- Tax Assessment Form

Registration Schedule
- Online registration runs from November 1st – November 24th
- In-person registration runs from November 14th – November 24th

Pickup Schedule
by appointment only between December 6th to 15th
- Food hamper pickup location: Unit 3 -32618 Logan Avenue, Mission
- Toy shop location: The Junction Shopping Centre, Unit
- 141 – 32555 London Ave, Mission.
Please Note:
- Please ensure you are ONLY adding dependent children who are in your care. Due to resource limitations, we are not able to sponsor grandchildren.
- Priority will be given to online registrations. If you have absolutely no internet access or you are having difficulty completing the online application – there will be an in-person option Monday through Friday, 9am to 5pm, between November 14th – November 24th. - Please review your application before submitting it. You cannot make changes to your application after submission. If you wish to make any changes to your application after it is submitted, please email [email protected] or call 604-826-3634.
- Our team will review your application for eligibility. Filling out the application DOES NOT automatically qualify you for the Christmas Bureau sponsorship/program. A staff member will contact you if we need additional information and
- All applications are processed in order of completion. Our team will contact you as soon as your application is approved and/or you have been matched with a sponsor.

Give Support
- Sponsor a family/senior- The matching process begins early October and completes end of November. You can extend the Holiday Cheer through the following steps:
- Review our Sponsorship Guidelines and FAQs
- Determine your budget: Refer to our shopping list and determine your budget.
- Apply to be matched: Fill out the Sponsor Application Form online. Or, if you prefer, download the PDF file and send it by e-mail to the MCSS Christmas Bureau- [email protected]. Expect a confirmation call or e-mail, from us stating that we have received your application. Contact us (604-826-3634) if you have not received a confirmation within one week. Please note, deadline for the Sponsor Applications is November 24th.
- Receive a match: We will be contact you again to match you with a family/senior. We will provide you with the family’s contact information as well as the name, age and genders of each family member.
- Call your match: Download the relevant Shopping List and call your family/senior ASAP to let them know that you are their sponsor. Clarify dietary restrictions/preferences and set delivery date. Record the answers in the space provided on the Shopping List. Please let us know if you are having any trouble contacting your matched family/senior.
- Shop and Deliver: Shop as per your convenience and deliver the food hamper and gifts on the pre-arranged date and enjoy meeting your family/senior!

- All funds raised through sponsorship and donations at the event stay in Mission and bring joy to children at Christmas through food and gifts.

Christmas Bureau Launch
You’re invited to one of Mission’s Christmas traditions! Join us on Sunday, November 24 from 10am – 1pm to at the Christmas Bureau Launch. Connect with our team over a light breakfast, meet Santa and explore the Toy Shop. The event is free to attend; guests are invited to bring an unwrapped toy or monetary donation for the Christmas Bureau.
