Program Activity Worker – Weekends

We are opening a brand new housing complex and looking for a Program Activity Worker for Saturdays and Sundays.

The primary responsibility of a Program Activity Worker is planning and implementing various activities and programs to enhance the residents’ quality of life, social interaction, physical health, and mental well-being.

What you’ll do

· Design and organize a diverse range of activities suitable for the residents’ interests, abilities, and needs. Activities may include exercise, leisure, crafts, games, outings, educational programs, and entertainment events.

· Lead or assist residents in participating in planned activities, ensuring they are engaging, enjoyable, and accessible to all residents. This may involve setting up equipment, providing instructions, and facilitating group interactions.

· Tailor activities to accommodate individual preferences, capabilities, and care plans. This might involve one-on-one sessions with residents who require special attention or assistance.

· Maintain records of activity schedules, attendance, participation levels, and residents’ feedback to help in evaluating the effectiveness of programs and adjusting as needed.

· Work in collaboration with other staff to coordinate activities with overall care plans and facility operations.

· Keep residents, families, and caregivers informed about upcoming activities, encouraging participation, and soliciting feedback to continuously improve the program.

· Ensure the safety and well-being of residents during activities, following relevant protocols, and providing supervision as needed to prevent accidents or conflicts.

· Perform any other related duties as required.

What you bring

· Completion of Grade 12 plus a Certificate or Diploma in a relevant area of study, plus a minimum of one year of recent related experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

· Must be able to obtain and maintain a clear Criminal Record Check for the vulnerable sector.

· Certification in First Aid and Non-Violent Crisis Intervention or MANDT, and FoodSafe.

· Physical fitness, ability to walk, dance, stand, lift, or meet other physical demands.

· Adaptability and strong organization and time management skills.

· Excellent resource management, computer, record keeping, interpersonal, decision making, and verbal and written communication skills.

This position is open to all applicants and Union membership (BCGEU) is required.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $24.97-$28.62 per hour

Expected hours: 16 per week
