Mission Community Services
The Assistant Manager, Family Services will be responsible for providing support to the Manager, Family services in direction to field staff in the delivery of social/ family service programs. This will include monitoring of program expenditures and reviewing case management practices in accordance with organizational policies, procedures, and directives. The Assistant Manager, Family Services must actively deal with challenging and complex cases to ensure that a high level of professional quality client service is provided to the public. They will be involved in various interdepartmental and community committees to identify and provide comprehensive services to clients.
Key Duties & Responsibilities:
Working as a valuable member of the Mission Community Services Society Leadership team the Assistant Manager, Family Services is responsible for the following:
Assists program manager in overseeing the day-to-day operation of Family Support/Therapy Services, Youth Services, CCRR, Early Years, and Community Support programs.
Leads, supervises, and directs all Family Services staff in cooperation with Manager, Family Services
Responsible for Family Services schedules, and payroll. Reviews expense reports from Program Coordinators.
Maintains accurate employee files and notes in collaboration with Human Resources and ensures that staff training requirements are up to date.
Responds to critical incidents, including dispositions and forwarding to applicable management as required.
Provides HR support in the recruitment, selection, coaching, and disciplinary action for all MCSS Family Services employees.
Makes recommendation to the Manager, Family Services regarding development, policy and procedure formulation and program evaluation.
Assists program manager with review, implementation, and adherence of CARF accreditation standards, practices, and policies
Liaises with community service providers and other professionals to coordinate service provision.
In the absence of Manager, Family Services, promotes public awareness of and support for the program by participating in community action tables and committees.
Participates in regular staff meetings with various Program Coordinators and Program Manager.
As member of management team, assist with the preparation and monitoring of departmental operating budgets
Assists with monitoring program expenditures and maintaining financial records in accordance to established procedures. Provides input to the program manager in the preparation of the program budget.
Maintains related records and statistics and produces reports as required.
Performs other related duties as required.

Post-secondary diploma in Human Services in a relevant field of study.
A minimum two years’ experience in a human service supervisory capacity or an equivalent combination of education, professional training, and experience.
Familiarity with MCFD run programs.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to make sound decisions in a timely manner.
Ability to work effectively within a team approach to community development.
Ability to work independently as well as demonstrated teamwork and team building skills.
A well-defined sense of diplomacy, including solid negotiation, conflict resolution, and people management skills.
Computer literacy, including effective working skills of MS Word, Excel and e-mail required.
High degree of resourcefulness, flexibility, and adaptability.
Politically and culturally sensitive.
High level of critical and logical thinking, analysis, and/or reasoning to identify underlying principles, reasons, or facts.
Strong morals and ethics, along with a commitment to privacy.
· Successful completion of a criminal record check is required.
· Certification in First Aid and Non-Violent Crisis Intervention
· Ability to understand and maintain clientele/worker boundaries.
· Experience and comfort with Microsoft Office products
· Confidentiality as per Agency, professional association, and legislative requirements
