Crawford newest MCSS director: AGM

Sharon Crawford is the newest member of Mission Community Services Society board after a smoothly-run annual general meeting June 25 at MCSS Second Avenue headquarters. Re-elected to the board were retiring directors Abe Neufeld and Sonia Sharma Dherari.

Other members of the board and the latest MCSS reports can be found HERE.  The AGM was well-attended featuring almost all members of District of Mission Council, MCSS founders, staff, management, society members and the public.  Financial and operational activities were highlighted.

MCSS board chair Bob Ingram thanked the board and staff for their dedication and reflected on the leadership of MCSS under executive director Sanjay Gulati who on June 4 departed for a new position in Galway, Ireland.

“Sanjay has been instrumental in bringing many new initiatives to MCSS to assist the people we serve, ensure that our programs and services change lives, and to collaboratively work to develop strong community partnerships,” he said in his leadership segment in the MCSS annual report.

“Just as we are proud of our past accomplishments, we are excited about the challenges of our future,” he said.

Ingram said the search for a new MCSS executive director  is well under way while Karen Laing serves as interim leader.

The colourful annual report focused on some of the people who MCSS helps, including Clara, a senior who loves MCSS programming and is guarding her independence; Levi, Rick and Terry of Rivendell second stage housing who recommend the facility “to those who are serious about getting better.”

The ECG program, New to Canada department, Festival of Light: Diwali, the Christmas Bureau, Food Centre, Haven in the Hollow and MCSS Family and Youth Services were also highlighted.
