Sweep! Slide: A part of Canadian culture

SWIS CURLINGHurry hard!  Hit the button! Slide!  Sweep! A mix of terms were uttered on Dec. 9 at Mission Granite Curling Club as those new to Canada in Mission enjoyed a special MCSS Settlement and Integration SWIS (Settlement Worker in Schools) event.

“Twenty-one people were there,” said MCSS SWIS program coordinator Annie Charker, including a pair of nuns from Korea.

The group was also open to Mission Literacy in Motion new to Canada clients, and was designed to demonstrate Canadian culture in the form of winter sports – curling.

School aged children as young as six and their families enjoyed the two-hour session taught by Steve and Brad, members of the Granite Club.

An album of photos from the night is posted HERE.
